Valhalla at a glance
Valhalla is situated to the North of Centurion and is one of the more established areas of Pretoria. Although Valhalla actually falls under Pretoria (Tshwane), many people think that it is part of Centurion. The suburb was originally very popular with people who worked for the Defence Force in the military base of Voortrekkerhoogte, now Thaba Tshwana. The suburb is popular with the middle class. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, security estates and new developments.
Since Valhalla is one of the older suburbs in Centurion, most of the properties have large, well established wooded gardens on large stands. Residents prefer Valhalla for its convenient location to the city centre, variety of dwellings, tranquil environment bordering on the Zwartkop Nature Reserve and the fact that there is very little building activity in the area.
Valhalla has several smaller shopping centres that contain all the necessary shops. However, the surrounding suburbs of Clubview, Eldoraigne and Wierda Park all have numerous shopping centres. Valhalla also has the usual cafes and convenience stores.
